Michael Jackson\u2019s Thriller had become the industry\u2019s unbeatable standard, and Madonna\u2019s manager, Freddy DeMann, reportedly wanted Like a Virgin pushed closer to that blockbuster formula.<\/span><\/p>\n

Producer Nile Rodgers remembered DeMann playing Thriller during the sessions and questioning whether Madonna\u2019s record could carry a similarly powerful sound. The request soon became more specific, with the manager demanding that the album be given additional bass.<\/span><\/p>\n
